Our specific treatments complete our standard hydrotherapy program. Available by medical prescription, specific treatments use emollients to provide skin with comfort and hydration.
Body wraps are a very important complement to the treatment of dry skin prone to atopy, psoriasis or ichtyosis. The patient is covered in a thick layer of emollient (following the doctor's prescription) and then wrapped in an occlusive plastic film for 45 minutes to an hour. This non-aggressive treatment helps boost the effects of the hydrotherapy treatment by reducing the thickness of the stratum corneum and providing greater comfort. Skin is more supple. If a body wrap is indicated, three sessions are generally offered over the course of a stay at the center. FACIALS WITH EMOLLIENT CREAM
Massage with a hypoallergenic emollient, followed by a soothing compress imbued with Avène Thermal Spring Water.
Scalp wraps made with a scalp emollient are prescribed by the hydrotherapy doctor. The cream is gently applied by the nurse using her fingers, and worked in strand by strand in order to thoroughly moisturize the scaly patches. This is followed by a gentle 15 to 20 minute massage that helps soften the scalp and relax the patient. The average frequency is 2 applications per week. A cotton bath cap is then used to keep the product in place for two to three hours. The treatment ends with a gentle shampoo.
Hydro-heliotherapy consists of periodic controlled exposure to the sun after spraying the skin with Avène Thermal Spring Water. The level of received sunlight is measured by dosemeters installed on top of the spa's solarium. Gradual exposure protocols are individually prescribed by the center's thermal doctor and explained to the patient. Two separate solariums for men and women are available for adult patients only.
